Distribution companies are responsible for the marketing of films and are very important for the finance of the film. They're usually different from the production company. The distribution company logo is usually supposed to represent the idea of being world wide, high class or power.
OUR DISTRIBUTION COMPANY:
When discussing our distribution company logo we came up with 'White light films'. `the white light film name links with the idea of seeing light at the end of the tunnel, linking with horror films saying that they don't all end bad. We used clouds & shooting stars within our logo to suggest that we are a universal company. This also says that the weather can change quickly and become overcast or gloomy with one action which relates to the genre of horror and how a film can become scary. This suggests that Miracle Pictures distributes many different genres.
Warner bros:
The Warner Bros. Pictures is a famous distribution company and released films such as Harry Potter, The Dark Knight Rises, The Hangover, The Exorcist, The Bodyguard, The Shining, Sherlock Holmes, The Matrix and many more that have become a success. Warner Bros use the logo of an emblem which looks like a shield; this represents power and to hide and protect things from danger. This will make the audience feel as though this distribution company is well respected. The combination of the piano and strings makes the logo seem professional and admirable like an orchestra.
columbia pictures:
Columbia Pictures use the Statue of Liberty surrounded by clouds. The statue represents freedom which could mean this distribution company believes everyone should have the right to watch great films. The use of the clouds represents vast area of space showing the films they release go worldwide. The sounds has a build up of small instruments leading up to a long sound of trumpets and strings to show power.
We took inspiration from both of the famous distribution company's to create ours. We used the images of clouds and the sky to represent the idea of vast space and size. This was to represent our distribution company being large and successful.
Dream works animation:
DreamWorks began in 1994 as an attempt by media moguls Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen together at SKG to create a new Hollywood studio of which they owned 72%. DreamWorks operates out of various offices at Universal Studios. It is a very popular distribution company as it is well known for all children animation films. It's unique and iconic logo makes people automatically recognise that this is their company and that the film will be good due to its representation. The use of the person on the moon shows that they control what people see on the outside world therefore can control what they watch when being apart of the Dream Work distribution company.
